xylodemon has begun posting Left Behind, a Neville-centric genfic [PG] that's slated for ten parts. Julie's writing is so engaging that I would probably find meaning in one of her shopping lists, but I can tell that this fic is going to be something truly special -- it already is. It's "about the people who will more than likely get left behind in book seven" and there is such attention to characterisation and she's got such a way with the canon details. I am just a ball of squee and so insanely excited about this story.
...And Then They Had Mad Sex, a crack!play in two scenes by lunacy [H/D; PG-13]
Part crack, part piss-take of fandom, set during the "vague, misty time when the boys are in Hogwarts but the war is over".
Also, a poll on recs, because I'm curious:
Do you rec? (this can be fanfic, fanart, meta, icons, whatever)
[reccers] When you rec something, do you have a prior expectation that everyone who follows your rec will like what you've recced?
[reccers] When you rec something, do you hope that everyone who follows your rec to like what you've recced?
[reccers] If it so happens that someone dislikes whatever you've recced:
[everyone] If you follow a rec, you always like whatever it is you've read/viewed.
[everyone] If a reccer expects their recs to be adored, this is:
[everyone] If a reccer feels bad that someone disliked what they've recced, this is:
[everyone] If someone is a reccer, they are necessarily:
[everyone] Some reccers are unhappy about reviews of fics recced on public newsletters, because they feel like their hard work is ignored/unappreciated when a reviewer doesn't agree with their picks. Your reaction?
In other news, I have prevailed over my remaining two slashfest fics and am now waiting for the betas & Britpicker ♥. I have scoradh's latest H/D novel open in tabs and tonight I am going to sit on the patio, read, eat strawberries, drink Red Bull and smoke. Huzzah!
