(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon
(Lucius, Hitsugaya, Ginny, Draco, Blaise, Switch, Trinity, Dudley, Gollum, Hibari)
(b) a reason he/she sucks
(Urahara, Egwene, Molly, Lupin, Aizen, Lindsay, Lambo, Roland, Denethor)
(c) a reason he/she is awesomecakes
Grimmjow Jeagerjaques (Bleach)
Grimmjow is awesome because he thinks for himself without being stupid enough to defy Aizen openly. I'm pretty sure he's got little love in store for Aizen -- as he said to Ichigo, he is a Hollow and Ichigo is a shinigami (and thus they must fight); surely the same goes for Aizen. I wonder if Grimmjow's going to temporarily align himself with the invading shinigami to oust Aizen. Hmm.
Boromir is one of my favourite Men in LotR, because he is quintessentially human -- so much so that he can't withstand the Ring's lure, and the results of that weakness play a pivotal role in the rest of the series. But even after he wavers, he still has the strength to come back to his senses and so dies as a man of Gondor rather than one of Sauron's tools.
Arya Stark (ASOIAF)
Arya's awesomeness is canon, hi. She escapes captivity countless times, learns very quickly to be ruthless to survive, and then makes her own way to Braavo to train as an assassin. And she has a hit list. And she's not even twelve years old yet.
I could praise Legolas's combat skill, but really what makes him most awesome for me is that he forged a friendship with Gimli -- a friendship so enduring that they were even rumoured to have sailed to Valinor together at the end of their days. It's significant to me because Legolas is Sindar despite having grown up with the Silvan elves and thus had a greater reason than most to dislike dwarves (because of the whole Nauglamír business).
Jaime Lannister (ASOIAF)
He's awesome because he's not only tired of having shit for honour, but he's also actively doing something about it.
Daenerys Targaryen (ASOIAF)
Dany is awesome because despite growing up under the eyes of a man like Viserys, she's got so much empathy and such a strong sense of justice.
Jon Snow (ASOIAF)
Jon is awesome because even though he strays and doubts, he never puts himself above his duty -- not even when given the opportunity to become Lord Stark (I thought it was ironic -- Jon actually proved he was a Stark by saying no to Stannis's offer).
Debbie Novotny (QaF)
Debbie is just generally awesome as a character, but I think my favourite moment in the series was when she refused to marry Horvath as long as Mikey couldn't marry Ben legally.
Everyone always focuses on "No living man am I! You look upon a woman.", but let's face it, it was the element of surprise that let her finish him off, not her battle prowess. I think she's most awesome for having the courage to face the true nature of her feelings for Aragorn (loving the icon/hero rather than loving the man).
Faramir exemplifies the kind of Man the elves wanted to inherit Arda -- strong in spirit as well as skilled in combat. It's too bad his father didn't realise it until the end.
Tomorrow: Five things that never happened to Brian Kinney, Moiraine, Renji, Hermione, Aviendha, Ben Bruckner, Justin Taylor, Luna Lovegood, and Emmett Honeycutt. :D
